Looking for a new job - 3D designer

Well I currently have a job (first one out of college) and it is time to step up not only my income, but also acquire something more suited to my strengths, desires, and talents.

I create, illustrate, and sculpt decorative products from scratch and to client specifications. I am very creative and have excellent illustration and sculpting skills in cartoons and realism. My work is primarily figurative and I have much experience is sculpting decorative cake/muffin pans, dolls, and animal figurines. Not only do I design but I have knowledge with preparation for manufacturing which includes draft fix and parting lines.

I have additional experience in 3D laser scanning to reverse engineer parts.

If anyone knows of anything remotely applicable to my skills, please let me know. The more leads the more networking. Send a message and I will send more contact informations and a resume.

Thanks!

Michele

Holly Hobby dolls

I'm trying to find a home for about ten Holly Hobby dolls in desperate need of repair or alteration. They are varing sizes from 3 inches to 2 feet. An old foster dog of mine thought it would be cool to play with them. I came home to find what looked like a sniper attack. Dolls strewn across the floor hair ripped, faces torn, some naked. It was as if they were trying to get away but failed. So sad. The dog was extremely happy with himself! I don't want to throw them away. I really wish someone into cloth dolls (or weird ass art (-:) would take them. If anyone is interested please let me know. You can have them free of charge. I need to know by Friday as I will be moving Monday and won't be able to get them in the mail after that.

on my first visit to Tribe, and thought I'd say hello...I'm an artist in the UK, work in textiles, paint, and sometimes both at once! I've been making dolls for a wee while, there's some on my etsy shop, http://artmixter.etsy.com and when I've worked out how to post pictures here, I'll show you some!
Looking forward to meeting other doll people!

I'm Jennifer Russell.

New to the tribe, kinda.

I've been meaning to post and put up pictures of some of my dolls for a while!

I've been makin' dolls all me life, and I wonder... does anyone out there earn money by way of being a dollmaker?

Do you show your art in galleries?

It seems to me that if you wanted to make a livin' doing art...you either have to know people in high places or mass produce whatcha make.

Anyone earnin' a livin' makin' dolls?

New Tribe Terms of Use

Not sure how many of you have heard/read about this issue; and I'm sure some think it only applies to "mature" tribes and profiles.

I'm thinking of specific examples right now: "ashi ohmygoshi!" as a mild one, jennybrd's siames twins, or some of the stuff on strangedolls.com (I think the artist is in this group). Personally, I love trangressive art, stuff that pushes boundaries either of society or of medium. But any of these works could be found "offensive" by somebody, especially if that person looks at dolls strictly as playthings for little girls.

So I pose this question: will this new policy affect the dolls you create, or prevent you from posting pictures of them?

Okay, I wanted to do it before anyway, so it's MY idea!

The doll must be made of paper mache' ONLY! No fabric or fiber! Can be pre-mixed pulp, paperclay, or newspaper and balloons! Can have assorted beads or findings, paint and glue. Let's take 3 weeks to give paper pulp time to dry. How about November 5th?

Hi there are there any NY art doll artists on here? I have been making dolls since 89' and love it. Got a grant last year to exhibit a large one of them at Burning Man. Would love to meet other doll artists in the area to talk about style, keep good creative energy flowing etc.

Hope to hear from some of you,

I've been experimenting with Polymer clay and Super sculpey. I uploaded a photo of my latest project the Myrman. His poor fingers got burnt during firing, I'll probably try to fix that later using acrylic paint.

She is 100% my pattern, and was inspired by Pamela Hastings's "Hot-Flash" but I call her "Bring It On" the reason for her name is since the birth of the twins i have been a mess in the area of female stuff and i think menopause would be a blessing. The doll is beseeching the feminine divine for the end of her pain and emotional anguish.

Crafty Vixens took her photo down cause she's naked. do you think she's all that terrible?

Pamela is still looking for pictures of "hotflash" dolls to be submitted for her book.

Hi I'm new and really interested in finding out where I'd start learning the materials and techniques for some of the dolls I've seen. I remember 'The Way Of The Doll' but those classes are no longer available. I'd really like to find out more, any suggestions?

Hello all,
Been lingering in the shadows for awhile thought I would say hello.
Im Kerry Kate and I have been making dolls for about 6 months now.. I kind of fell into making them after studying several different art mediums in school for five years then straight into recovering from whiplash from an auto accident that left me stuck at home earlier this year. From there I started October Effigies. Nice to meet you all.

Greetings everyone, I am glad you have this tribe, I love to share with anyone who wants to know how I make my dolls...and also if you have any need for materials I have lots to share.

my web site is www.griselda.com you will find a link in there of the dolls I make.

I find making my dolls to be a very intimate spiritual experience...a blessing. I am sure many agree with me that it is not only relaxing, it is almost a moving meditation.

again...thanks for having this place where I can visit. Love and light to all of you. Gris

Greetings, beautiful peoples!
Does anyone have ideas as to how I can effectively host an art doll party? What should I provide for materials...what could people bring of their own? I'm not sure I wanna buy 20 needles and thread right now, but would love to share the space and intention to work on dolls together. I was thinking peeps could bring old clothes and fabric, hair from their last haircut, cheesecloth, natural bits of things, ...this is where I get a little fuzzy on the details. ;) Help me out! And if yer in the Los Angeles area, come to the soiree> It will be the second Fri. every month starting Dec. 10.

I started making this doll when I joined this tribe...finally took pix of what I've been up to (non-doll stuff, too). She's in my profile pix, if you all are interested, next-to-last page of photos. I finished her in a day, I was that inspired. I'm making a whole slew of stuff for a pre-holiday open-house arty-crafty sale in my house...if anybody's planning on being in Quebec Nov. 6th...yeah, thought not...lol

I have been toying with the idea of creating a collection of erotic figures ever since i saw an erotic sculpture show in my teens, but just never got down to it. Now after creating my new action figure style substructures I will be able to replicate some authentic poses. depending on how fast they go, and how detailed I choose to make them (the first may simply remain white with a little stain)I may have enough to do a one woman show in a few months.
I just bought a genuine workbench (like the ones at the movie miniature studio where I work sometimes) and it has made a world of difference! With the addition of an ergonmic tall chair there's nothing to stop me now... exept maybe aquiring rent now and then...

Great site! I have been making dolls since I was a kid. Currently I have a sock monkey company, but I have been pondering getting back into dolls for some time now. I have had the notion of doing a tattooed lady doll. The body of the doll would be screen printed front and back and hand painted...once I ever get around to it..

I love Chads dolls on many levels - they are gothic and beautiful works of art, they are green and good to the environment. They are something I covet endlessly =)
I think you should take a look. They are just to "die" for.

I have been a jewelry artist (mostly beaded) for quite a while and have recently started making dolls so I was thrilled to find this tribe. Uhh I never know what to say so I will just say Hello : )
